Garden Update

I took these pictures Monday June 8th.
The spinach is starting to Bolt, so I will harvest some whole plants to open up some spaces to plant another spinach crop. The Lettuce is doing great though, don't seem to have any problems, just spaced a bit close, So I will be thinning them out some more soon. I like to start my lettuce plants at 9 per square foot for baby green production, then thin them out to 4 or less per square foot so that the remaining plants can have more room to grow. Giving them more space would result in larger plants, at a cost of yield per square foot. I prefer to harvest the outer leaves daily, rather then wait for heads of lettuce to grow - however, if large leaves of lettuce with thick crunchy midveins are desired then you need to space the plants farther and let them grow into heads.
The Garlic continues to grow.
The zucchini seems to be unaffected by whatever is slowly killing off my cucumbers. I will try direct seeding cucumber again when the weather is warmer, it has been unseasonably cold, so I think fungus is attacking the roots.
The Sugar/Snow peas are in bloom! That means fresh snowpeas for my daily salads are only a week or two away.
